Role Summary
As an Equipment Hauler, you keep GS Construction’s job sites running by safely transporting equipment and materials across the Edmonton area. This role requires confidence with manual transmission trucks, strong load securement skills, and comfort navigating tight urban environments including downtown Edmonton.
In this role you will be responsible for the following:

Equipment & Supply Hauling – Transport equipment including excavators, skid steers, & loaders between job sites using an equipment trailer, including loading & unloading equipment onto and off the trailer. Haul construction materials & supplies to active sites as required. Step into dump truck operations as site needs dictate.

Load Securement – Properly chain down, block, and strap all equipment and loads prior to transport. Confirm securement meets Alberta Transportation requirements before entering roadways and adjust as required at destination.

Urban Navigation & Tight Access – Confidently navigate the City of Edmonton including downtown corridors and congested work zones. Assess access points, overhead clearances, and tight turns before committing a loaded trailer.

Field Coordination & Communication – Communicate clearly with foremen and dispatch to confirm pickup and drop-off locations, site access routes, and scheduling. Adjust to changing site priorities throughout the day.

Site Safety & Compliance – Operate all vehicles in accordance with Alberta OH&S, Alberta Transportation regulations, and GS Construction policies. Use a spotter when backing in active job sites where visibility is limited and stop immediately if visual contact is lost.

Inspections & Equipment Care – Perform daily pre- and post-trip vehicle and trailer inspections, report defects promptly, and maintain assigned equipment in clean, operational condition.
Qualifications

Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver’s license with Air Brake Endorsement and a clean driving abstract.

Manual transmission experience required.

Demonstrated experience hauling equipment such as excavators, skid steers, and loaders, including the ability to operate equipment to load and unload from the trailer.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

Work is performed across multiple active job sites throughout the Edmonton area, including downtown and tight urban environments.

Frequent entry and exit from the cab; comfortable managing heavy chains, binders, and straps including lifting up to 50 lbs.

Work is performed around active equipment and open excavations; safety awareness is critical at all times.
