Production Supervisor Job Description Summary of the Role The Production Supervisor is a hands-on team lead who can guide and manage manufacturing activities related to the functioning of the branch in order to meet or exceed customer expectations and to achieve facility and company goals to become a world-class production center while meeting operating revenue, growth, and service. This role reports directly to the Branch Manager. Responsibilities Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures. Supervises production associates, including training, setting expectations and daily objectives while holding team members accountable, including progressive discipline. Plan, organize, direct, delegate, and engage in all production activities. Ensure that all transactions are kept current, recorded accurately, processed efficiently, and expedites where appropriate. Performs basic operations within the company operating system, including all transactions related to transfer entries, work order entry / modification; and inventories. Establishes production schedules and assigns jobs to production associates. Provides technical / service support to account management, service center management and other internal stakeholders. Assists with physical inventory. Assembles components, tests, inspects, identifies, and packages resale products, as needed. Ensures the proper operation and repair of production equipment. Performs or directs receiving, in-process and final inspections, as required. Performs or directs all tests as required by the customer and per company work instruction (WI). Supervises quality control and ensures required quality-related documentation is maintained. Makes recommendations to management with respect to product and process improvements. Communicates general and quality-related concerns to management. Builds and maintains strong internal and external relationships. Complies with the employee handbook and company policies governing associate conduct. Ensures team members provide a first-class service and maintain a professional manner and communicate regularly and clearly with internal and external team members. Motivates, coaches and mentors all team members to create and reflect a positive and pro-active approach to achieve results in a team orientated culture. Maintains a safe, clean, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures. Perform other duties as trained and qualified for. Skills and Abilities Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills and the ability to handle stressful situations in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner. Works well with others; able to motivate a team and hold them accountable for performance. Requires basic computer proficiency, including internet, e-mail, ERP (operating) systems, Word, Excel, and various other software as needed. Must have strong organization skills, ability to prioritize workload, and be able to interact effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Results oriented and customer focused. Demonstrates initiative and dedication. Is flexible where needed (able to occasionally work extended hours and weekends to meet business needs). Understand production processes and is mechanically inclined. Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age or older Ability to safely drive a Company truck or other mechanical equipment Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience in an industrial environment 3 - 5 years of experience in production High school diploma or equivalent Ability to work nights and weekends, as required Ability to work overtime, as required Reliable transportation is a must Background checks and drug screening may be required (by Company, Customer or DOT requirements in working on-site and operating equipment as required or permitted by law) Physical Requirements and Work Environment This position is based in a production and warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to a range of environmental conditions. These include fluctuating temperatures (both hot and cold), varying noise levels, exposure to dust, and other typical elements of an active industrial environment. Ability to pull, push, grasp, bend, lift, and carry up to 50 lbs independently on a repeated basis. Heavier items may be moved with team assistance or mechanical aid. Ability to move freely throughout the job site, including on occasional uneven surfaces, for extended periods of time. Ability to work in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Ability to work at varying work-surface levels and machine operation heights. Ability to move above or below workstations or retrieve items from various heights. Ability to ascend and descend ladders or stairs, as required. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions and safety procedures. Ability to comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, inventory sheets, and procedure manuals. Ability to count, measure, and record data accurately. Ability to respond to safety signals, alarms, and verbal instructions. Ability to inspect products and materials to detect imperfections, defects, or irregularities and ensure quality and compliance. Ability to properly and safely use mechanical equipment and tools, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse machinery (training and certification may be required). Ability to enter and exit a service vehicle and other mechanical equipment multiple times per day. Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), such as gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, hearing protection, or hard hats, depending on task or site conditions.
