Burnaby School District invites applications from qualified Tech Ed teachers for a full-time position at Burnaby Mountain Secondary School teaching Construction Electrician program, starting September. Must have red seal qualifications to be considered.
Technology education involves the ability to combine an empathetic understanding of the context of a problem, creativity in the generation of insights and solutions, and critical thinking to analyze and fit solutions to the context. To move from design to final product or service requires skills and technology. Tech Ed is designed to teach students a hands-on approach to learning. Students start learning the basic skills that can lead to careers in Trades and Technology. In junior grades, students will be introduced to safe use of machines, while creating a variety of exciting projects. Courses are designed to give the students a basic knowledge and the ability to continue into the senior courses.
Burnaby schools offer courses in Woodwork, Metalwork, Drafting, Automotive, Electronics, and Robotics as well as apprenticeship training in Carpentry, Plumbing, and Automotive.
Required Qualifications
Technology Education: Secondary
A Bachelor of Education degree (Technology or Industrial Education concentration) or academic equivalent Must have red seal qualification as a Construction Electrician Industrial education courses equal to 33 units which are relevant to prescribed curriculum including appropriate teaching methodology courses for the assignment.

Salary And Benefits
Salary Range: $64,318.00 to $113,240 per annum based on Teachers' Salary Grid Placement on salary scale will be determined by years of experience and qualifications in accordance with collective agreement.
Upon hire, opportunity to sign up for benefits as per the Teachers' Provincial Collective Agreement.

During the summer months, our District provides students the opportunity to take various courses. Summer session is an opportunity for teachers, who choose to, to continue working during the summer months.
