The Data Engineer ensures that data is efficiently acquired, integrated, stored, and prepared for analytics, reporting, and operational use. By developing robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and applying governance and security standards, the role provides the foundation upon which business intelligence, decision making, and strategic planning depend. The Data Engineer directly supports organizational objectives by enabling timely insights, improving data reliability, and ensuring that data assets can be used safely, ethically, and effectively.
HOW YOU’LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
- Design, implement, and maintain complex data engineering solutions for acquiring, preparing, and structuring data.
- Develop and manage scalable data pipelines integrating data across systems, applications, and organizations.
- Monitor, assess, and remediate data quality across complex data domains.
- Plan and deliver data engineering solutions that balance functional and non-functional requirements (e.g., scalability, performance).
- Ensure compliance with data standards, architectures, security policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage data storage, modeling, transformation, and optimization for analytics, machine learning, and applications.
- Lead data integration, cleansing, migration, and conversion for new platforms and initiatives.
- Partner with business leaders to influence data strategy and maximize value from data assets.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience with relational database technologies (e.g., MS SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, or similar platforms).
- 5+ years of experience designing, developing, and maintaining ETL/ELT processes.
- 3+ years of experience applying data architecture and data modeling concepts (e.g., star schema, snowflake, normalization, conceptual/logical/physical models).
- 2+ years of experience designing and maintaining enterprise-level data warehousing solutions and/or large-scale data integration workflows.
- Experience with metadata management, data quality frameworks, and data governance practices is considered an asset.
- Preferred experience in educational, government, or broader public-sector environments.
WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?
As a difference maker you bring experience in:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 5+ years of experience with relational databases and ETL/ELT process design, development, and maintenance
- 3+ years of experience in data architecture and modeling (e.g., star schema, normalization, conceptual/logical/physical models)
- 2+ years of experience with enterprise data warehousing and large-scale data integration solutions
- Experience with data governance, metadata, and data quality frameworks; public-sector experience is an asset
SALARY: $3,147 - $3932 bi-weekly, reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a temporary cover-off position for 1 year.
