Budgeting & Financial Reporting · Coordinate the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets. · Partner with departments to develop, review, and consolidate budget submissions. · Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. · Develop budget reports and presentations for senior leadership. · Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support informed decision-making. · Ensure timely, accurate financial reporting in accordance with standards.
Leadership · Support the development and continuous improvement of financial services strategies, policies, and processes. · Coach and develop the financial services team, promoting high performance and exceptional service delivery. · Provide backup support to the Chief Financial Officer. · Contribute to long-term financial planning, financial policy development, and internal controls. · Provide organizational guidance on accounting principles, financial policies, and financial system functionality.
Systems & Process Improvement · Utilize financial and budgeting systems to support reporting and analysis. · Identify and implement improvements to budgeting processes, reporting, and financial systems. · Coordinate financial software training and support organizational adoption of system enhancements. · Maintain confidentiality of financial information and develop a strong understanding of organizational operations, services, and budgets.
Qualified candidates possess a post-secondary degree in finance, accounting, or commerce and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation with 5+ years of progressive experience, ideally in the public sector and an understanding of municipal accounting, property assessment, and reporting guidelines. Compensation includes a salary of $100K - $110K plus comprehensive health and dental coverage, health and wellness spending account, and pension plan.
