Repair Design Engineer - Aerospace
Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Repair Design Engineer to develop engineering solutions for the repair of aircraft structures and components. This role supports aircraft maintenance operations by designing structural repairs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing technical expertise to restore aircraft to service.
The ideal candidate has a strong aerospace engineering background, structural repair experience, and the ability to solve complex technical challenges in a fast-paced aviation environment.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Support
Provide engineering support to maintenance teams for aircraft and component repairs. Interpret aircraft repair manuals, engineering drawings, and manufacturer documentation. Respond to technical inquiries and provide solutions to maintenance-related issues. Develop repair plans for structural damage, corrosion, and other aircraft discrepancies.
Structural Repair & Analysis
Design and analyze structural repairs for transport-category aircraft. Prepare repair drawings and engineering documentation for structural non-conformances. Perform structural assessments and support analysis activities related to aircraft repairs. Apply sound engineering judgment to resolve technical issues while minimizing operational risk.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all engineering activities comply with applicable aviation regulations and industry standards. Maintain awareness of current and upcoming regulatory requirements. Prepare clear technical reports, repair documentation, and engineering records.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related discipline with 2-5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent industry experience. Experience in aircraft structural repair design and engineering support. Knowledge of commercial aircraft structures and repair methodologies. Familiarity with aviation regulations such as TCCA and FAA is considered an asset. Experience with structural analysis, fatigue analysis, or damage tolerance is preferred. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and engineering calculation software. Strong understanding of aircraft materials, hardware, and aerospace engineering standards.
