For nearly 100 years, our teams have been at the forefront of propulsion technology, pushing boundaries to make flight more efficient and reliable. Our engines support missions that truly matter, from transporting people and essential goods, to enabling emergency medical services, humanitarian operations, and wildfire suppression around the world.
An Employer of Choice
Pratt & Whitney Canada was named one of Canada’s Best Employers for 2026 by Forbes, marking the 11th consecutive year the company has earned this recognition. Pratt & Whitney Canada also ranked #1 employer in the aerospace and defense industry in the country. In addition, our headquarters continues to be recognized among the top employers in the Montreal region. Together, these distinctions reinforce our reputation as an employer of choice in Montreal, across Canada, and around the world.
Why join the team?
As a Test and Validation Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and validating propulsion systems through engine and component-level testing within an AS9100 regulated and safety-critical aerospace environment.
Working across multidisciplinary teams, our team applies engineering judgement to plan, execute, and analyze the results of experimental engine test activities in support of new engine certification, continued airworthiness and product improvements for our fleet in service, and prototype engines developing new technology.
This role requires strong technical judgment, the ability to lead through influence, and a practical understanding of complex systems.
The successful candidate is curious, enjoys solving technical problems, and thrives in an environment that blends office-based engineering with hands-on shop interaction, bringing together assembly, test and instrumentation technicians with cross-functional engineering teams to validate our products, tools and assembly processes.
While experience in aerospace propulsion is considered an asset, we welcome candidates with experience in experimental development, product testing, validation, manufacturing, or integration of complex systems who are excited to apply their expertise in an aerospace environment.
What Your Day-to-day Will Look Like
Lead and coordinate test readiness and configuration management activities to support development and certification objectives. Plan, procure, and support modification, instrumentation, and overall readiness of experimental engine and/or rig hardware. Develop build instructions, test procedures, test plans, and technical documentation to support assembly and test of our experimental engines. Work closely with technicians and cross-functional design and analytical engineering teams throughout the engine build and test lifecycle, including troubleshooting and investigation of hardware, build, tooling, and test-related findings. Define problems, document findings, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions through continuous improvement processes. Analyze and interpret test results to provide technical recommendations and corrective actions supporting product development objectives. Support production readiness activities that optimize our assembly processes, and tooling to transition from an experimental to a manufacturing environment. Document engine assembly, testing, investigations, and findings on disassembly through technical reports and lessons learned. Identify opportunities to improve test methods, execution efficiency, and product validation processes.
What You Need To Be Successful
Field of study: Aeronautics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Avionics, or related discipline. Bachelor’s, Master’s degree or technical diploma and 10 years of relevant experience in aerospace, product development, testing, validation, manufacturing, integration, certification, or related technical environments involving complex mechanical system validations. Experience supporting prototype development, product validation, testing, manufacturing readiness, reliability testing, or development of complex mechanical systems. Strong understanding of mechanical systems and component interactions within complex assemblies, with experience evaluating assembly concerns and technical non-conformances. Demonstrated ability to lead technical activities, influence stakeholders, and work effectively with technicians and cross-functional teams in a mix of office and shop environments. Strong troubleshooting, engineering investigation, root cause analysis, and technical problem-solving skills. Experience with Validation & Verification (V&V), instrumentation, data acquisition, system integration, hardware integration, or test procedure development is considered an asset. Experience with engine development, rig testing, propulsion systems, turbomachinery, development testing, certification testing, FAA / Transport Canada certification, FAR Part 33, or AS9100 environments is considered an asset. Strong communication, project coordination, and technical reporting skills. Available for occasional travel.
