Position Summary
The Test Specialist assists with the verification of the system and software requirements prior to delivery to the Product Specialist team for final system validation. They work closely with the other Test Specialists, coordinating with the Engineering Development team and may also be required to assist the Product Specialist team. The Test Specialist is not expected to have in-depth knowledge of Adacel Products but is expected to gradually become well-rounded in their knowledge of all Adacel products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Learns to become proficient in the use of the major Adacel Product lines and knowledgeable regarding their functions and specifications. Works with the Engineering Development team to perform software and system implementation and verification testing potentially as part as part of an integrated agile team. Creates detailed test verification specifications and traces those test cases to system and software requirements. Provides metrics and reports on integration testing throughout the development process. Assists with the implementation of automated test tools. Coordinates with the Lead Test Specialist on current work status to ensure that work is completed in a timely and efficient manner. Maintains files in compliance with Quality Assurance and ISO requirements. Assists with documentation of product features, internal process documents and reports Reviews and modifies content located in Adacel’s knowledge base software.
May be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities
Assisting customers with the resolution of issues relating to system use, scenario creation, simulator performance, configuration and utilization. This includes: Troubleshooting, isolating, and resolving issues. Coordinating hardware shipments with the logistics department. Tracking hardware that has been shipped. Utilizing product testbeds for issue replication and analysis. Defining and constructing the simulation environment using simulator tools, product knowledge and Air Traffic Control subject knowledge. Assisting the Product Specialist team in the preparation and execution of System Validation Testing, Factory Acceptance Tests and Site Acceptance Tests. Assisting with Client Demos and Tradeshows. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications
Required High School Diploma or equivalent. 2 years of experience working in the Software Development or Software Testing field. Previous experience working with defect tracking software tools and requirements management tools. Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems. Intermediate hardware, networking, maintenance/repair skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Desired
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Previous UNIX and/or Linux experience. Good knowledge of the AGILE/SCRUM methodology. Knowledge of Aviation and/or Air Traffic Control practices and concepts. Experience with Scripting languages such as Python or equivalent. Knowledge of simulation or training systems. Software testing certifications (such as those offered by ISTQB or ASTQB).
Other Qualifications
Ability to adhere to Adacel’s Drug Free Workplace Policy. Ability to pass an Adacel background check while employed. Ability to travel up to 25% annually. Must currently have or have the ability to obtain a Canadian passport. Must be able to pass an FAA background check.
Physical Requirements
Occasional lifting – up to 50 lbs. Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger movement.
Work Environment
Location: Montréal, Québec, Canada. Job Status: Full Time. Hybrid teleworking environment.
Alternative work schedules (9/80 with every other Friday off)
Frequent airline and car travel. Typically sitting at a desk.
