The Department of Infrastructure is seeking a Seasoned Project Officer to join the Project Management Division in Norman Wells.
If you're an experienced engineering, architecture, or project management professional looking to lead large-scale infrastructure projects, this is an opportunity to help deliver some of the Northwest Territories' most important public assets. From schools and healthcare facilities to airport infrastructure, you'll play a key role in projects that directly support communities across the North.
About the Role Reporting to the Regional Manager, Projects, you'll assist in the planning, design, procurement, and construction of major infrastructure projects ranging from $35 million to $100 million in value. Working with government departments, Indigenous governments, consultants, contractors, and community stakeholders, you'll help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in alignment with technical, regulatory, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities Manage infrastructure projects through planning, design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases Coordinate consultants, contractors, technical specialists, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery Develop project scopes, review designs, evaluate costs, and oversee tendering processes Monitor budgets, schedules, risks, and project performance to ensure projects remain on track Ensure compliance with GNWT policies, building codes, technical standards, and regulatory requirements Build strong relationships with Indigenous governments, communities, clients, consultants, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle
Qualifications Required Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: A degree in Engineering or Architecture Three (3) years of relevant experience One (1) year of project management experience Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
