About the role
The Drumheller****DragonsJunior A Hockey Club, a proud member of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL), is seeking a dedicated and professional individual for the position of Assistant Coach.
Guided by the values of preparation, enthusiasm, character, and hard work, the Dragons organization is committed to developing elite athletes and helping them become leaders in the community. Working under Head Coach and GM Kevin Hassleberg and Associate Coach Kenton Levesque, the successful candidate will play a key role in player development, game strategy, and the team’s pursuit of excellence.
Key****Responsibilities

**On-Ice****Instruction:**Assist in planning and executing high-tempo practices and individual skill development sessions.

**Game****Management:**Support the coaching staff during games with bench management, tactical adjustments, and pre-game preparation.

**Video****Analysis:**Lead video review sessions to provide players with constructive feedback and analyze opponent systems.

**Player****Recruitment:**Assist the GM and scouting staff in identifying and evaluating talent at ID camps and regional showcases.

**Mentorship:**Foster a positive culture focused on accountability, discipline, hard work and helping players advance to NCAA, WHL, or USport levels.

Community Engagement: Represent the Dragons organization at community events and assist with annual programs like the Junior Dragons Hockey School. Assist in running programs such as Skill Development Practices, Hockey School and other skills sessions as needed
Qualifications
-
**Experience:**Previous experience playing or coaching at the Junior A, Major Junior, Collegiate, or U18 AAA levels.

**Certification:**Minimum of NCCP Development 1 (High Performance 1 preferred). Respect in Sport for Coaches program.

**Skills:**Strong communication skills and proficiency with video editing software and MS Office.

Requirements: A valid driver’s license, a clean Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector), and the ability to relocate to the Drumheller area for the season.
Remuneration
Salary will be commensurate with experience and professional qualifications. This is a seasonal contract position starting in early August.
