About the role
Job Type: Full-time Location: Bow Valley Square 2, Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Unipec Canada is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Contracts Analyst to join our Calgary office. This role is responsible for managing the full contract lifecycle, validating trade confirmations, resolving contractual discrepancies, and ensuring accurate transaction documentation. The successful candidate will serve as a key liaison between Trading, Operations, Accounting, Legal, and external counterparties, helping ensure operational excellence, risk mitigation, and compliance within a fast-paced trading environment.
Responsibilities: Draft, review, and administer commodity purchase and sales agreements, ensuring alignment with commercial terms and company policies. Validate trade confirmations against deal recaps and other supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. Identify, investigate, and resolve contractual discrepancies promptly. Prepare and negotiate contract amendments and counter proposals when required. Coordinate contract approvals and routing through the internal review process. Maintain contract records and support documentation in accordance with company standards and audit requirements. Ensure data integrity through ongoing quality control reviews and record-keeping best practices. Monitor contract obligations and support compliance with contractual terms. Act as the primary point of contact for contractual communications with counterparties and internal stakeholders. Partner with Trading, Operations, Accounting, Credit, and Legal teams to facilitate smooth transaction execution. Support issue resolution related to contract interpretation, trade confirmations, and operational discrepancies. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, documentation standards, templates, and contract administration processes. Participate in special projects, system enhancements, and operational initiatives as assigned. Contribute to the development and maintenance of departmental procedures and controls. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree required. 2+ years of experience in contract administration, trade support, or related role. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Advanced attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Experience in crude oil, refined products, or other energy commodities. Knowledge of commodity trading contract structures and industry standards. Familiarity with Incoterms, title transfer provisionals, and commodity transaction workflows. Experience working with international commodity transactions and General Terms & Conditions (GT&C) agreements. Key Competencies Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
