Responsible to maintain the content of the flight planning (LIDO) and NOTAM database, and to provide assistance to flight dispatchers and pilots for flight planning and data integrity. Responsibilities: On-Site Support for Flight Dispatch Operational floor and administration Provide technical expertise to Flight Dispatch and on flight planning database queries. Maintain company proprietary data in the Flight Planning (LIDO) and NOTAM/Crew Alert (Smart4Aviation) systems. Identify and resolve problems that occur during flight planning. Analyze, identify, and add/repair/delete new or obsolete air routes, including severe weather avoidance routes Analyze, coordinate and implement new routing options in consultation with affected stakeholders Analyze and tailor Terminal Procedures to ensure flight planning adherence to Air Canada requirements and best practices. Analyze the LIDO navigational database for compliance with ATC requirements and Air Canada operational requirements, and ensure any requested changes are expeditiously handled Perform quality control on LIDO maintained data and Air Canada requested changes. Responsible for maintaining Flight Planning restrictions in LIDO as identified by stakeholders. Responsible for reviewing Aeronautical Publications and maintaining Airport Authorizations in LIDO in accordance with the Airport Authorization process Responsible for maintaining Aircraft Data in LIDO in alignment with Operations Engineering, Regulatory and other relevant stakeholders Responsible for maintaining remarks for dispatcher awareness in LIDO, Responsible for coordination of flight planning requirements for maintenance and Air Canada Jetz operations. Benchmark, track, communicate route planning costs, initiatives and savings, Responsible for requesting, maintaining and amending global overflight permits for both scheduled and adhoc operations, including maintenance operations- ensuring they are validated, processed and inserted into LIDO in reliable and timely manner. Responsible for providing data on ATC Costs and route selection to the ATC Nav Charges division. Manage Company and Class 1 NOTAMs in SmartNOTAM, including insertion of company NOTAMs as well as interpretation, validation and adjustment of Class 1 NOTAM data as required. Manage Crew Alerts in SmartNotam. Manage OFP remarks for crew awareness in SmartBrief, including follow up with stakeholders and quality control. Integrate and maintain Flight Support content on the Flight Dispatch website. Support the Flight Operations Training Department through generation of flight plans in accordance with training scenarios. Acquire and maintain an expertise in a specific area and provide continuous assistance on this matter to the team. Provide assistance in the production testing and implementation of RFS required for system enhancements, including evaluation of new or unused modules of LIDO for possible cost savings and efficiency gains. Provide assistance in regression testing and user acceptance testing for implementation of new NOTAM and Flight Planning application version upgrades. Responsible to regularly conduct audits on relevant databases to ensure that quality control is managed. Interface with other divisions of the company such as Performance Engineering, Flight Dispatch, Flight Standards, Route Manual and FMS production, Finance, SOC, ISM/IT, Scheduling and Air Canada Jetz. Maintain contacts with government agencies such as ATC, NAV Canada Notams office and other data providers such as LIDO Frankfurt. Authority: Maintain company proprietary data in the flight planning, NOTAM and Crew Alert systems. Interpret and validate source data for entry in the NOTAM system and perform quality control in the flight planning system. Responsible for requesting, maintaining and amending global over flight approvals and permission. Co-ordinate flight planning requirements between various stakeholders in accordance with restrictions, permissions and regulatory requirements.
Education Completion of secondary school. Post-secondary education in aviation, business administration, or a related field is preferred. 3+ years of experience in an operational or administrative environment, with exposure to airline operations considered an asset. Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Experience/Business Knowledge. Strong interpersonal skills, must be a team player. Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize multi-task requests with a sense of urgency. Ability to shift priorities and meet tight deadlines. Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours, on occasion. Excellent communication skills, oral and written. Strong organizational skills, disciplined and self motivated. Website maintenance a definite asset. Demonstrate punctuality and dependability to support overall team success in a fast-paced environment. Safety Responsibilities: as per the Air Canada Flight Operations Manual (FOM), the Air Canada Flight Dispatch Standard Operating Procedures Manual (560), the Air Canada Flight Dispatch Training Manual (562), the integrated safety management system, SOC/Dispatch work area recovery and evacuation process, and aircraft accidents and incidents (publication 400).
