The Senior Logistics Specialist, Transportation is responsible for analyzing transportation and logistics data to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall supply chain performance. They work with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement, develop solutions, and drive data-driven decision-making within the organization. What you'll be doing:
Collect, process, and analyze transportation and logistics data, including shipment information, Costs, and delivery performance metrics. Use statistical and analytical tools to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies in transportation data. Develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to communicate key insights to stakeholders. Utilize tools like Tableau, Power BI, or other data visualization software to present findings in a comprehensible manner. Collaborate with other stakeholders to optimize transportation modes and carrier selection to reduce costs and enhance efficiency. Identify opportunities for consolidation, optimization, and backhaul strategies. Utilize historical data and market trends to forecast transportation demands and costs. Evaluate current transportation processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement. Propose and implement process enhancements, automation, and best practices. Conduct cost-benefit analyses for transportation initiatives and provide recommendations for cost reduction and efficiency improvements. Collaborate with various departments, including distribution, procurement, and IT, to align transportation strategies with overall business goals. Evaluate and manage relationships with transportation service providers, carriers, and suppliers.
What you bring:
Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional, Certified Business Intelligence Professional) may be advantageous. Several years of experience in transportation and logistics analysis, with a track record of improving operational efficiency and reducing costs. Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Noetics) and transportation management software. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work with large datasets. Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders. Knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance standards. Project management skills and the ability to drive initiatives to completion. Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
