By connecting sales, accounts receivable, operations, and customer engagement into one seamless solution, they help customers operate more efficiently and grow their businesses. Their team is made up of curious, entrepreneurial builders who thrive in a fast-moving environment. They value ownership, innovation, collaboration, and pragmatic decision-making, with a shared commitment to building products that solve meaningful customer problems.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an exceptional Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership across our engineering organization. This is our highest individual contributor engineering role, responsible for shaping architecture, influencing technical strategy, and raising the engineering bar across the company. You'll tackle our most complex technical challenges while partnering closely with Engineering Leadership, Product, Design, and Customer Success to ensure we're building scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. You'll drive technical decisions that impact the entire platform, establish engineering best practices, and mentor senior engineers while remaining deeply hands-on. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, influencing without authority, and creating leverage across an engineering organization. We're also looking for someone who has fully embraced AI-native software development. AI-assisted engineering should be fundamental to your workflow. Whether using Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar tools, you leverage AI to accelerate delivery, improve software quality, automate repetitive work, and spend more time solving high-value engineering problems.
What You'll Be Doing
Define and evolve the technical architecture of our platform, ensuring it scales as the business grows. Lead the design and implementation of complex distributed systems and mission-critical platform initiatives. Drive engineering strategy and influence technical direction across multiple teams. Identify and eliminate technical bottlenecks before they become business constraints. Establish engineering standards, architectural patterns, and development best practices. Partner with Engineering Leadership on long-term technical planning, platform investments, and system evolution. Lead the design of scalable APIs, integrations, and platform capabilities that support customer growth. Improve system reliability, scalability, observability, security, and operational excellence. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to Product, Customer Success, and executive leadership. Mentor senior engineers through architectural guidance, technical reviews, and hands-on collaboration. Champion AI-powered development practices that improve engineering velocity and code quality across the organization. Remain hands-on, contributing production code to the company's most strategic initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Technical Qualifications 10+ years of professional software engineering experience building large-scale production systems. Demonstrated experience operating at a Staff Engineer level or serving as the technical leader for multiple engineering teams. Expert-level experience with TypeScript. Deep expertise building highly scalable backend systems using Node.js. Strong experience designing modern APIs using GraphQL and REST. Significant experience with React and modern frontend architecture. Proven experience designing distributed systems, cloud-native applications, and scalable platform architectures. Strong understanding of performance optimization, system reliability, observability, and operational excellence. Experience leading complex technical initiatives involving multiple stakeholders and engineering teams.
Leadership & Impact
You influence through technical credibility rather than formal authority. You naturally balance short-term execution with long-term architectural vision. You simplify complex technical problems and help others make better engineering decisions. You're known for raising the technical standards of every team you join. You enjoy mentoring senior engineers and creating leverage through others. You're comfortable making difficult technical tradeoffs while keeping customer outcomes front and center. You thrive in startup environments where ambiguity is high and ownership is expected.
Nice to Have
Experience building commerce, SaaS, or marketplace platforms. Experience designing integration-heavy products and APIs. Familiarity with the building materials, construction, or LBM (Lumber & Building Materials) industry. Experience scaling engineering organizations through periods of rapid growth. Why Join?
