About the role
Role Description This part-time, on-site Math Instructor role at Mathnasium is based in the Greater Toronto Area, Canada. The Math Instructor will provide individualized and small-group math instruction to learners using the Mathnasium teaching methodology and curriculum. Responsibilities include explaining mathematical concepts clearly, guiding students through problem-solving, and adapting instruction to different learning styles and grade levels. The role involves preparing and organizing lesson materials, monitoring student progress, providing constructive feedback, and maintaining accurate records. The Math Instructor will collaborate with the center team to ensure a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment, communicate with caregivers about student progress, and support center operations as needed.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Mathematics and demonstrated ability to explain concepts across multiple grade levels. Experience in Lesson Planning and Curriculum Development to align instruction with learning goals. Background as a Qualified Teacher or tutor, with exposure to Mathematics Education or related fields. Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to engage learners in an encouraging, student-centred manner. Ability to work on-site in the Greater Toronto Area, maintain punctuality, and collaborate effectively with a diverse team. Prior experience teaching or tutoring in a learning center, school, or similar environment is an asset. Post-secondary coursework or a degree in Mathematics, Education, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred. Mathnasium is a learning center where students go after school to boost their math skills. We are highly specialized; we only teach math. Our program is for students in K2 through 8th grade. Like at a gym or health club, members pay a low monthly fee and can drop–in anytime.
Our goal is to significantly increase your child's math skills, understanding of math concepts, and overall school performance, while building confidence and forging a positive attitude toward the subject.
