Job details

JUST HR is recruiting for a Senior HR Generalist to lead the human resources function for a well-established, family-owned distribution business in Vancouver. Supporting approximately 80 employees across a salaried office team and a unionized warehouse and driver workforce, this is a hands-on role with broad ownership across HR. The company is looking to modernize its HR practices, improve systems, and bring more structure to policies, payroll, employee records, and day-to-day people processes. This is an opportunity for an experienced HR generalist who enjoys building practical solutions and wants to make a visible impact. You will work closely with senior leadership and have the support to strengthen the HR function as the business continues to evolve. This is a full-time, in-office position, five days per week. The business operates on an early-morning schedule that reflects the needs of a distribution and warehouse environment. Responsibilities Lead day-to-day HR activities and serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers. Manage payroll administration, time tracking, and related processes for salaried and hourly employees. Administer employee benefits and the company's RSP program. Improve the use of ADP and help move manual payroll and HR processes into more efficient digital workflows. Guide supervisors and managers through employee relations matters and the consistent application of progressive discipline. Support HR compliance, including requirements under BC's Pay Transparency Act. Partner with operations leadership on WorkSafeBC requirements and health and safety practices within the warehouse. Support labour relations matters involving one union and collective agreement. Review, update, organize, and digitize HR policies, forms, and employee documentation. Build consistent onboarding packages and role-specific employee documentation. Help develop employee engagement programs and support initiatives such as the company's social committee. Evaluate HR and payroll technology and support the transition away from an aging time card system. Develop secure, centralized digital employee records and improve HR information management. Identify opportunities to strengthen HR processes and introduce practical solutions that support employees, managers, and the business. Requirements 5+ years of progressive HR generalist experience. Hands-on experience with payroll and benefits administration. CPHR designation is preferred. Experience supporting a unionized workforce is an asset. Experience with ADP or similar payroll and HR systems is preferred. Knowledge of BC employment standards, WorkSafeBC requirements, and general HR compliance. Comfortable supporting hourly and shift-based employees in a warehouse or operational setting. Strong organizational skills with the ability to build processes, documentation, and structure. Practical and approachable communication style with confidence handling employee relations matters. Comfortable working fully in person in an office and warehouse environment. Able to work an early-start schedule aligned with the operating needs of the business. Remuneration Salary of $80,000 - $90,000. Discretionary annual bonus. RSP program with a 2.5% company contribution plus a 2.5% company match, for up to 5% total. Comprehensive benefits, including 90/90/90 dental coverage.
