Job details

COMPANY OVERVIEW KITS is a fast-growing, TSX-listed direct-to-consumer retailer of prescription eyewear, serving customers across Canada and the United States. By combining a seamless digital experience with vertically integrated manufacturing and rapid fulfilment, KITS is redefining how people access vision care — making high-quality eyewear stylish, accessible, and affordable at scale. We move fast, make decisions with data, and build teams that take ownership end to end. SUMMARY As a Product Developer, you'll take assigned eyewear styles from concept sketch to finished product, partnering closely with Design, Merchandising, Assembly, and Supply Chain along the way. You'll see your ideas through to real products on shelves, with direct visibility into how your work performs with customers. This is a hands-on, detail-obsessed role for someone who takes pride in shepherding good ideas into real, wearable products. WHAT YOU'LL DO Product Development Execution Support development for assigned styles from design handoff through sample approval, keeping stakeholders aligned on status and timeline Translate design intent into technical specifications, BOMs, and drawings for vendor handoff Track development timelines for your projects and flag risks to the team Vendor & Sample Management Communicate with factory partners to troubleshoot construction, quality, and cost questions on assigned styles, escalating complex manufacturability calls to senior team members Manage prototypes and samples through multiple development rounds, providing clear technical comments and tracking revisions Review pre-production and production samples and support the technical approval process Cross-Functional Coordination Partner with Design, Merchandising, and Supply Chain on standard constructions, components, hinges, temples, nose pads, ready-to-buy lenses, finishes, and branding details for your assigned projects Coordinate with Procurement/Sourcing on costing and MOQ for individual development projects Partner with QA on testing protocols and corrective actions for assigned styles; support wear testing and fit evaluation Documentation & Process Maintain accurate technical documentation, specifications, sample records, and development trackers Manage material, component, and colour libraries, and sample/construction reference archives for your product area Contribute ideas to improve development processes and vendor execution; research new materials, components, and manufacturing techniques WHO YOU ARE You've supported physical product development before, and you understand that a great sketch means little until it survives a cost sheet, a vendor conversation, and a deadline. Must-Haves 5+ years of experience in product development, technical design, or product coordination Experience across the full product life cycle — concept sketch through BOMs, sampling, fit, and production handoff Experience producing tech packs/spec sheets, evaluating samples against spec, and tracking sample timelines with overseas partners Comfortable in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop Nice-to-Haves Background in eyewear, fashion, or another vertically integrated consumer goods category How You Operate You communicate clearly with creative and operational partners, and you're comfortable flagging issues and sharing recommendations with your team COMPENSATION The expected annual salary range for this position is $56,700 - $81,000. Most people join us somewhere between the start and midpoint of that range, so there's plenty of room to grow as you settle in and make your mark. Where you land depends on your experience, skills, and what the role calls for. We believe in paying fairly and competitively, and we check in on that regularly to keep pay consistent across the team and in step with the market. Sharing our ranges upfront is part of how we do business honestly, with you and with each other. BENEFITS & PERKS Competitive compensation package Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits Employee Share Purchase Plan (ESPP) Access to an on-site gym Company-paid lunch every day at HQ Discounts on KITS frames and contact lenses Opportunities for growth and development A friendly and supportive team environment KITS is an equal opportunity employer.
