The Field Sales Engineer is responsible for growing Komline Pure Water's presence across the United States by developing municipal and industrial opportunities for custom-engineered, modular water and wastewater treatment systems. This field-based role combines business development, consultative technical selling, application discovery, and commercial leadership. The successful candidate will build trusted relationships with end users, consulting engineers, contractors, channel partners, and other project stakeholders while coordinating closely with Komline Pure Water's engineering, estimating, project management, and service teams. The role is best suited to a technically credible sales professional who can translate complex water challenges into practical treatment concepts, guide opportunities through long and technical sales cycles, and create a strong customer experience from early discovery through project handoff. Responsibilities: Business Development and Sales Execution Develop and execute a U.S. sales strategy that supports annual revenue, margin, pipeline, and market-development goals. Identify, qualify, and advance opportunities in municipal, industrial, mining, food and beverage, pharmaceutical, oil and gas, remote-community, and other priority water markets. Build and maintain a healthy opportunity pipeline, accurate forecasts, and disciplined next-step plans using the company's CRM and sales processes. Engage prospective customers early in the project lifecycle and maintain momentum through discovery, budget development, specification, proposal, negotiation, award, and handoff. Develop relationships with consulting engineers, EPC firms, general contractors, system integrators, distributors, representatives, and strategic partners. Represent Komline Pure Water at industry conferences, customer meetings, technical presentations, and other business-development activities. Technical Solution Selling: Lead technical discovery to understand influent characteristics, treatment objectives, flow requirements, site constraints, regulatory drivers, schedule, budget, and commercial expectations. Work with applications and engineering teams to develop fit-for-purpose treatment concepts, budgetary estimates, scopes, and proposals. Communicate the technical and commercial value of modular and packaged treatment plants, including advantages related to schedule, constructability, scalability, reliability, automation, and lifecycle support. Present treatment approaches involving filtration, membranes, biological and physical-chemical processes, disinfection, oxidation, solids management, instrumentation, controls, and other applicable technologies. Review customer specifications, requests for quotation, requests for proposal, drawings, process narratives, and contractual requirements to support responsive and competitive submissions. Coordinate technical clarifications and proposal revisions while ensuring commitments are accurate, achievable, and aligned with company standards. Commercial and Customer Leadership: Develop pricing and negotiation strategies in partnership with business and finance leadership, protecting margin while addressing customer needs. Lead commercial discussions and support contract review, including scope, exclusions, schedule, payment terms, performance expectations, and risk items. Maintain executive-level and technical customer relationships throughout the sales cycle and remain engaged during project execution when needed. Provide a complete and timely handoff to project management and engineering after award, including customer commitments, technical assumptions, commercial terms, risks, and key relationship information. Partner across the broader Komline organization to identify cross-selling opportunities and present integrated solutions when they provide meaningful value to the customer. Gather market intelligence on customer needs, competitors, regulations, funding, and emerging treatment requirements; share actionable insights with product, engineering, and leadership teams. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, chemistry, business, or a related field; equivalent technical and industry experience may be considered. Five or more years of successful technical sales, business development, applications engineering, or solution-selling experience in water, wastewater, environmental systems, process equipment, or a closely related industry. Demonstrated ability to develop new business, manage a complex opportunity pipeline, and close engineered capital-equipment or project-based sales. Working knowledge of water and wastewater treatment processes and the ability to discuss technical concepts credibly with engineers, operators, contractors, and executive stakeholders. Ability to interpret technical specifications, process flow diagrams, drawings, water-quality information, and customer requirements. Strong written, verbal, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
