APPLIANCE SERVICE TECHNICIAN INSTRUCTOR POSITION TYPE: QUALIFIED FACULTY LIST POSITION START: As soon as possible FACULTY OVERVIEW: The Appliance Service Technician program prepares students for entry into the appliance service and repair industry. Students complete all of the in-school training required for Red Seal qualifications and develop their skills through hands-on opportunities. Students also acquire a sound knowledge of common appliance systems and essential skills necessary to succeed in the industry. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Faculty of Trades and Technology is currently seeking a Non-regular Type 1 Appliance Service Technician Instructor to provide short-term coverage in the Appliance Service Technician program which may extend from a single day to several weeks, possibly leading to a regularized contract. Part of this contract may require the delivery of the BC Provincial Appliance Service Technician Gas Certificate. More information concerning the working conditions for a faculty member are outlined in Article 12 of the Kwantlen Faculty Association (KFA) Collective Agreement. QUALIFICATIONS: A BC Certificate of Qualification (BC TQ), or a Certificate of Qualification with Interprovincial Red Seal (IP RSE) from another jurisdiction. A BC Gas Certificate, or equivalent. A minimum of five years relevant, related, industry experience as an Appliance Service Journeyperson. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Candidates will be required to undergo a Criminal Record Check. *SALARY INFORMATION: Placement on the salary scale will be dependent on level of education and relevant teaching experience. Advancement up the pay scale is based on FTE and employment status. This competition is for successful candidates to be added to our Qualified Faculty List. When work in this area becomes available, the Qualified Faculty List will be drawn upon to assign work. As such, please indicate on your application your preferred workload percentage.
