Job summary

L'Arche Lethbridge is seeking compassionate and reliable individuals who are willing to share life alongside people with and without developmental disabilities. Relief team members are part of a household and community where relationships, mutual support, and respect are central. The Overnight Asleep Relief provides overnight presence in a L’Arche home. This role is primarily an asleep shift with the expectation that the Relief will be available to respond if assistance is needed during the night. Support may include responding to bathroom requests, emotional reassurance, or emergency situations. L’Arche Lethbridge is seeking applicants with availability for 3-4 nights per week. Core Expectations It is expected that a Relief will: * Accept and support the Vision and Mission of L’Arche as outlined in the International Charter of L’Arche(January 2023) and the L’Arche Lethbridge Mission in Action Plan. * Demonstrate an awareness of and appropriate response to the physical, emotional, spiritual, vocational, and recreational needs of Core Members(people with developmental disabilities). * Follow direction given by the House Leader or designate as appropriate. Maintain confidentiality. Desired Skills It is expected that a Relief will: * Demonstrate an ability to develop meaningful and caring relationships with people with a disability. * Have, or be open to learning, conflict and stress management skills. * Demonstrate an ability to work within a team. * Demonstrate an ability to respond effectively in emergency situations, or a willingness to learn how to respond effectively. * Demonstrate self-initiative in responding to the needs of the household as they arise. * Demonstrate a commitment to proficiency in English and other forms of communication used by Core Members. * Demonstrate an ability to represent the Community with families of Community Members, church congregations, neighbours and the larger community as needed. Required Responsibilities It is expected that a Relief will: * Assist with the following areas of the daily lives of the Core Members as needed: bathroom trips, emotional support, or crisis management. * Respond to emergency by being present to react immediately to sudden health changes, falls, or safety issues. * Learn relevant Community policies and implement them effectively. * Facilitate communication with Core Members. * Competently administer medication and assist with the storage of medication as directed by the House Leader, if necessary. Qualifications * Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent * Criminal records check Additional information: 1.
