As an Indigenous teacher, you will have an understanding of Indigenous Culture, traditional learning methods and successful classroom experiences supporting Indigenous learners in K-12 curriculum. Proven ability to cultivate positive relationships with Indigenous students. Proven leadership in integrating authentic Indigenous Resources and materials in to the curriculum. Experience with advocacy for Indigenous students within the school setting. Experience working with teachers and support staff in a collaborative holistic approach consistent with the Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement. Experience establishing and building trusting relationships and maintaining clear, open communication between school and Indigenous families and communities. The successful candidate will work collaborating and strategically with school and program staff to enhance success of Indigenous learners. Itinerant position within Family of Schools model as determined by Director of Indigenous Education. POSTING DETAILS Start Date - ASAP Schedule - Full-time Employment - Permanent (continuing) Required Qualifications Bachelor of Education (Elementary / Middle / Secondary) degree, or academic equivalent training. A valid Teacher Regulation Branch Certificate, or in progress Amajor program concentration in the areas of primary and intermediate education Aprimary and intermediate methodology course Consistent with the HUMAN RIGHTS CODE, Aboriginal Ancestry is a bona fide occupational requirement for this position Must be qualified to teach Aboriginal education Or equivalent training, or experience For your application to be considered, all required documents must be included: Resume Cover Letter (please elaborate on your experience and qualifications as an Aboriginal educator) A copy of your transcript (official or unofficial) for your program A copy of the credential received after completing your teaching program A copy of your Certificate of Qualification (from the TRB to teach in BC) Email addresses for a minimum of three references (ideally, administrators from your most recent teaching role) Have a valid drivers license and a reliable vehicle to be able to get between schools and alternate sites for meetings in a timely manner For applicants who are in the process of completing their program, some of the above documents may be 'pending' at the time of submission however, the application will still be considered. PLEASE NOTE The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $63,347 to $116,190, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.
