Job Title: Truck Driver – Short Distance Job Summary Truck drivers operate heavy trucks to transport goods and materials on the short distance/local routs. Truck drivers will perform some shipping/receiving activities such as loading and unloading trucks, prepare documentations, performing safety checks on the vehicles Responsibility * Support, Foster, Promote and Demonstrate Linamar’s Core Values and Leadership Behaviors. * Maintain balance between customer, employee and financial satisfaction by maximizing facility/department Performance Indicators to align to Linamar’s Stepping Stool of Success Strategy. * Support and maintain department lean initiatives as set out in LPS system requirements. * Familiarity with McLaren’s Business Management System (BMS). * Operate and drive company fleet to transport goods and material to destinations. * Oversee all aspects of vehicles, such as condition of equipment, loading and unloading, and safety and security of cargo. * Perform daily pre-trip inspection of vehicle systems and equipment such as tires, lights, and brakes. * Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures * Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, and other information in logbook. * Exhibit safe and courteous driving habits which exclude preventable motor vehicle collisions. * Maintain an acceptable level of performance for scheduled pick-up and delivery times. * Report defects, accidents or violations * Coordinate the staging of shipments according to customer pull signals or shipping schedules. * Prepare all shipping documentation in accordance with customer and export requirements including barcodes, commercial invoices, bills-of-lading, and packing lists. * Arrange shipment of material to required destination in a timely manner. * Drive hi-lo and load/unload trucks as required. Academic/Educational Requirements * HS Diploma and at least 1 year of related experience. CDL-B license required. CDL-A preferred. Required Skills/Experience * Intermediate computer skills. * Valid driver’s license in good standing. * Previous automotive/shipping background preferred * Basic knowledge of MRP and computer systems. * Knowledge of IFS would be beneficial. * Ability to communicate effectively. * Ability to operate a forklift. Must be licensed. * Able to work as a team. * Able to work quickly and efficiently. * Positive attitude with high energy.
