Operations Finance Business Analyst (6 months full time) Mississauga, ON, Canada | req33119 This role is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys partnering with operations, influencing business decisions, and driving performance. As a key member of the finance team, you will analyze operational and financial results, identify trends and variances, and provide actionable recommendations to management to improve business performance. You will play an important role in reviewing and approving operational projects, evaluating business cases, and working closely with plant teams to challenge spending and forecasting assumptions. In addition, you will support month-end activities, prepare and present financial performance reporting for senior leadership, and collaborate with Capital Accounting on asset acquisitions and retirements. Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to translate financial data into meaningful insights that support effective cost management and operational decision-making. What you will enjoy doing* You'll be the key finance partner supporting 22 Plant Managers across 45 locations, helping them understand their costs, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance A big part of the role is owning the annual budgeting and monthly forecasting process, managing operating budgets of roughly $48M-$52M and capital budgets of $15M-$24M You'll work closely with operations leaders to understand spending trends, explain variances, and provide recommendations that help drive better business decisions The role requires someone who can influence without direct authority, as you'll be working with leaders who have varying levels of financial knowledge and business experience You'll review and prioritize capital projects, validate business cases, and ensure investments align with operational and financial objectives There's a strong analytical component, including preparing monthly financial reports, interpreting results for senior leadership, and identifying opportunities to improve performance and control costs You'll also be responsible for ensuring compliance with financial policies, understanding how costs flow through the system, and maintaining accurate financial reporting, including month-end journal entries Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, you'll have the opportunity to drive continuous improvement initiatives, streamline processes, and participate in cross-functional projects that support the broader business What makes you great* We're looking for someone with a Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting and at least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, particularly around costing and financial analysis You should be comfortable digging into data, identifying trends, and turning numbers into meaningful business insights Advanced Excel skills are important, as you'll be working extensively with budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis Strong communication skills are key because you'll be partnering with operational leaders and translating financial information into actionable recommendations This is a highly collaborative role, so we're looking for someone who enjoys working cross-functionally and building strong relationships across the business You need to be confident influencing stakeholders and challenging assumptions when necessary, while maintaining a strong partnership approach Experience with reporting and business intelligence tools such as Oracle BI, Tableau, or JD Edwards would be a nice asset Overall, we're looking for a finance professional who combines strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to work effectively with both finance and operations teams Why you will love working with us Linde is a leading global industrial gases and engineering company.
