For more information about Lookout, please visit www.lookoutsociety.ca Location 544 Columbia Street, New Westminster, BC V3L 1B1 3 minute walk from Columbia Skytrain Station Salary $25.73 per hour 40 hours a week with an occasional requirement to work additional hours in order to meet deadlines. Position Summary Key duties and primary responsibilities are related to supporting development activities such as proposal and grant writing to address gaps in programs or to further support programs with minimal budgets or to expand wraparound services. Other key duties include external communications that include social media, responding to media requests; special event organization and support including site openings, public announcements with funders, and funder/municipal requested site tours; donor relations and fundraising. The Development Associate must understand and enforce Lookout’s rules of confidentiality. The Development Associate must develop a thorough understanding of Lookout’s objectives, services, programs and mandate. Qualification & Requirement Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline such as Communications, marketing, or related fields preferred. English or social science educational backgrounds also accepted. Demonstrated experience writing and editing content. Experience in the community social service sector, preferably in a non¬profit environment, is an asset. Computer experience required with MS Office, including Outlook, Word and Excel A First Aid Training Certificate required and must pass a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sectors Clearance Respirator Fit Test Requirement This position requires successful completion of respirator fit testing, as Lookout is COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified and must comply with WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements. To ensure a proper respirator seal during fit testing and use, employees are required to be clean-shaven where the respirator seals against the face. Job Duties Research, write, and support team in proposals and grants to renew and seek new or additional funding Research, write and post content on social media platforms, blogs and newsletter(s), and Lookout’s website, related to programming for education and awareness Track social media and news stories pertaining to Lookout programs through analytical tools such as Google Analytics Create, edit and publish photographs and other graphics as requested Understand and enforce guest confidentiality rules in outgoing communications Research, compile and format content for Lookout’s external newsletter Draft, coordinate, edit, and produce media talking points, speeches, and presentations Write, distribute, and follow up on press releases Implement specific strategies related to media relations Coordinate, liaise, and converse with media during fundraising campaigns, events and public programs Research, design, and produce informational and promotional materials including print, electronic and video Identify, cultivate and solicit partnerships and donations Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Lookout services, programs, and best practices Comply with all Government and Society policies and procedures Perform other related duties as assigned Skills And Abilities Excellent oral and written communications and presentation skills that include research, editing and proofreading Experience with research and writing in a professional or academic context, experience writing grants and proposals is an asset Knowledge of the latest digital information technology systems, including websites and social media (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn); background or interest in photography and videography is an asset Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships in a diverse environment Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to analyze and resolve problems with tact, discretion and good judgment Ability to work within a collaborative team environment Demonstrated ability to operate office equipment with excellent computer proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.), WordPress, Canva and Microsoft Office programs are an asset Use of vehicle may be required Closing Date Applications will be accepted until August 27, 2026 at 5:00 pm Footer Lookout Housing and Health Society is committed to empowering people from different races, gender, age, religion, identities and unique experiences. Requirements

Post-secondary education in Communications, Marketing, or Social Sciences is preferred, along with demonstrated experience in writing and editing. Candidates must possess a First Aid certificate and pass a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Clearance.
