Job summary
TMF – Lou’s Kitchen is committed to providing the highest quality products to our customers, and the Quality Assurance (QA) Department plays a critical role in achieving this goal. The Junior Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the QA Department by ensuring food safety, quality, and regulatory compliance throughout the production process. This role is responsible for conducting inspections, product testing, process audits, documentation review, and product sampling in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements. The QA Technician ensures compliance with HACCP, GMPs, SOPs, and all food safety programs while providing training, coaching, and support to employees across the facility. The position serves as a key resource for troubleshooting quality and food safety concerns and promoting a culture of continuous improvement. This position is scheduled on the morning shift, Monday to Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with occasional Saturday work required at our Stoney Creek facility. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Conducting daily audits on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in accordance with the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Regulations, Company Policies, and Customer Standards Monitoring the facility through environmental swabbing, product sampling, and allergen/species testing Conducting the Hold & Release procedures Collecting and submitting testing samples for laboratory analysis Assisting during Third Party Audits, being available for questions and documentation Creating and monitoring product specifications for all products Regularly performing Quality Control Checks and Food Safety Assessments, completing the necessary documentation Prepare training documentation for Employees on our Food Safety Culture, providing regular education sessions Support employee engagement through positive reinforcement and education of quality assurance practices Partner with employees and supervisors to ensure Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed Participating in Research & Development of new products, collaborating with the R&D team, culinary team and HACCP coordinator What we offer : Benefit package which includes a pension plan; Dental care; Vision care; Extended health care; Life insurance; Employee assistance program; Employee stock purchase plan; Company events; And more ! University Degree or College Diploma in a Science related field OR a combination of education and related experience; 1-3 years of Quality Assurance experience within food production (preferably meat protein); Experience conducting quality assurance audits on a variety of meat products; Sensory testing experience – specifically with meat products (beef, pork, chicken, turkey); Excellent knowledge of CFIA regulations and GMPs for food manufacturing; Strong communication skills: verbal and written English skills required for documentation and training; Strong influencing skills coupled with action orientation to address issues; Highly attentive to details for testing and documentation; Operational experience within a food manufacturing environment is highly valued; Previous experience facilitating employee training is an asset. Work Environment The role is based in a fast-paced plant operations environment characterized by frequent interruptions, varying noise levels, and time-sensitive responsibilities. The position involves a combination of standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday. Work areas range from standard office temperatures to cold production environments. Exposure to raw meat and raw meat biproducts including blood The position demands high levels of concentration, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure. Flexibility to work extended hours, including weekends or holidays as needed, is essential to meet operational demands.
