Estimator, ICI Construction - Permanent - 19532 About The Opportunity Parker Huggett is working with a well-established and growing General Contractor in Ottawa that is looking to add an Estimator to its team. With a strong reputation and a growing portfolio of commercial and institutional projects, our client offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Estimator looking to take the next step in their career. The successful candidate will join an experienced and collaborative team, playing an important role in securing new projects and supporting the company's continued growth. This is an opportunity to work on a variety of interesting ICI projects while gaining exposure to larger and more complex pursuits. As an Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial and institutional construction projects. Working closely with senior leadership, project management teams, and trade partners, you will help evaluate opportunities, identify project risks, and develop winning bids. Duties include but are not limited to: Review drawings, specifications, and tender documents to develop accurate and competitive estimates Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and ensure complete scope coverage Identify potential risks, constructability challenges, and opportunities for value engineering Prepare general conditions and project-specific costs, considering scheduling, site logistics, and construction requirements Participate in tender reviews, bid closings, and final estimate submissions Assist with proposals, prequalifications, and budgeting for new project opportunities Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and industry partners Work collaboratively with operations and project management teams to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to construction About You The ideal candidate is a motivated and detail-oriented Estimator who enjoys the challenge of putting together competitive bids and wants to grow with an established Ottawa General Contractor. The successful candidate will have the following: 2–5 years of estimating experience within the commercial and institutional construction sector, ideally with a General Contractor A diploma or degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience A strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, materials, and building methods Experience preparing quantity takeoffs, subcontractor scopes, and detailed project estimates Familiarity with lump sum tendering, construction management, design-build, and other project delivery methods Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously Excellent communication skills and confidence working with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating software A proactive, team-oriented attitude and a genuine interest in building a long-term career in estimating About The Job Location: Ottawa, Ontario Full-Time, Permanent Salary Range: $90,000 to $110,000, plus performance incentives Comprehensive health and dental benefits RRSP program Disability and life insurance coverage Opportunities for professional development and career advancement A supportive, collaborative environment with experienced construction professionals Exposure to a diverse range of commercial and institutional projects If you're an Estimator looking for an opportunity to grow your career with an established and forward-thinking Ottawa General Contractor, we'd welcome the opportunity to connect.
