Job summary

HR Manager, Canada Milton, ON (hybrid - 3 days onsite) MacDonald Search Group is a national permanent placement recruiting firm and we recruit on behalf of hiring companies. We are currently recruiting on behalf of a North American manufacturer and they are on the hunt for an experienced HR Manager to assume a standalone HR position for the Canadian operations. This role serves as a strategic HR partner to business leaders while acting as the subject matter expert on Canadian employment legislation, compliance, employee relations, and HR governance - the compliance skillset will be a priority. Please note: this will start as a 12 month maternity contract with potential to become permanent based on strong performance. Some of what you will do in this role includes: HR Business Partnership Canadian Employment Law Employee Relations Compliance & Risk Management Policy Development Workforce Planning Change Management Leadership Coaching HR Process Improvement HRIS & HR Operations Success in this role will include: Reduced HR compliance risk across Canadian operations. Consistent application of HR policies and processes. Improved HR operational efficiency and governance. Strong partnerships between HR and business leadership. You should have the following in your background to apply: 5+ years of senior HR experience. Bachelor’s degree is mandatory - in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related discipline. A deep understanding of federal and provincial employment laws. Ability to build scalable HR processes that support business growth, minimize risk, and enhance the employee experience. CHRP/CHRL designation considered an asset. 5-10+ years of progressive HR experience. Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation across multiple provinces. Experience supporting employee relations, investigations, workforce planning, and organizational change. Proven ability to develop HR policies, compliance frameworks, and operational processes. Experience partnering with Payroll, HRIS, Legal, and senior leadership teams. Strong communication, coaching, and stakeholder management skills. What's in it for you?
