Job summary
We are currently seeking a Supervisor, Surface Operations to join our team at Levack Mine! The Supervisor, Surface Operations is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable surface operations at Magna Mining. This role oversees surface crews, coordinates operational resources, and ensures work is completed in accordance with safety regulations, company policies, and production requirements. All Magna Mining team members are expected to work collaboratively with others, lead the way in health and safety, act with honesty, integrity, and foster an entrepreneurial spirit in pursuit of excellence. Responsibilities: Supervise day-to-day surface operations including material handling, equipment operation, site maintenance, and support activities related to mining operations. Monitor compliance with operational plans, production targets, and safety standards. Ensure safe work practices are followed and that all employees comply with regulatory and company requirements (OHSA, MTCU, WSIB, etc.). Conduct daily pre-shift safety meetings, inspections, and workplace assessments. Assign tasks to crew members based on skills, qualifications, and operational priorities. Report and investigate incidents, near misses, and hazards and implement corrective actions as required. Coordinate the maintenance and use of surface mobile equipment, tools, and facilities. Maintain accurate records of shift activities, production data, equipment usage, and timekeeping. Communicate effectively with underground operations, technical services, maintenance, and other departments. Train, mentor, and support surface personnel and apprentices. Promote a proactive safety culture across all surface operations and lead by example. Participate in safety audits, inspections, incident investigations, and emergency response drills. Monitor operational costs and ensure efficient use of labour, equipment, and resources. Requirements Qualifications: Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents Grade 12 education or equivalent. Post-secondary education in a mining related field is considered an asset. Work Experience: Nature & Length 7 or more year of mine operations experience. 2 or more years of experience in a leadership role. Key Competencies: Behaviours & Skills Excellent leadership, communication and organization skills. Sound knowledge of surface operations methods. Familiarity with mining regulations, occupational health and safety practices and emergency response. Proven ability to successfully lead teams in a dynamic and physically demanding environment.
