Job Description Compiles and computes freight rates, and other charges for transportation services, according to rate tables and tariff regulations. Examines previously entered freight bill information for correctness and cross checking with copy of original bill of lading if deemed necessary. Uses computer generated rates and tariffs to obtain specific charges for customers depending on distance, weight and volume shipped. If computer generated rates are not available, must apply manual rates from current rate agreements or rates based on current costings. Calculates and records storage, redelivery, reconsignment and other accessorial charges when applicable. Answer E-mail, fax or telephone inquiries from customers and terminal contacts regarding rates, routing, packing procedures, service times and interline transportation procedures. Examines bill of lading and other related documents in order to determine whether to rebill customers for short payments or credit off. Compares computer generated rates to hard copy files to verify accuracy when necessary. Generates other carriers revenues to be paid and reviews differences in interline payables vs. carrier billing and authorize or declines balance dues. Classifies freight based on freight bill description and current NMFC guide. Keep abreast of all proper procedures and ensure that the screen information is correct. i.e. rate cards, biller cards, accessorial charges, rate agreements, etc. Qualifications Proven ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines. Proven ability to perform under pressure. Evidence of good communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. Good geographical knowledge of Canada and the United States. Good math skills Speed and accuracy is critical. Billing background would be an asset. LTL 400 knowledge is an asset. Spreadsheet and query knowledge would also be an asset. Compensation: CAD 21.31 - CAD 23.68 - hourly
