About the Role We have a fantastic opportunity for Network and Infrastructure Specialist, with a passion for innovation and telecommunications. Working within the team, you will take ownership of building, securing, maintaining, and optimising the Core Network and Hosting environment that underpins millions of IoT devices globally. OV is in a unique and innovative position within the IoT industry, and we build in-house almost all aspects of our underlying software and technology stack, from the base protocol stacks to the billing platforms that operate the OV service, all of which runs within our own bare metal hosting environment and network, or global public cloud infrastructure. You will have significant industry experience as a Network or Infrastructure Engineer, likely using vendors such as Cisco Nexus, FortiGate, Microsoft Server/SQL, Linux Ubuntu, Microsoft Azure. You will also be familiar with operating bare metal infrastructure within a colocation environment, and ideally public cloud providers (such as Azure) Ideal Candidate Characteristics Excellent ability to self-manage and prioritise workloads, ensuring that the OV service consistently exceeds customer expectations and that projects are delivered within a timely manner. Highly motivated individual with a keen interest in working to continually improve the level of service, availability, and security of services that OV provides to its customers, enhancing via automation and innovation. Fantastic communication skills with OV teams, partners, and vendors, with a desire to autonomously take ownership of projects end-to-end, often taking a lead role in the design and architecture. Excellent collaboration skills, actively passing skills and knowledge to other elements of the team and working in a mentoring role to other members of the OV technology team. Keen interest in learning new technologies which relate to OV services and keeping up to date with industry developments and changes. Based on Isle of Man Experience Minimum of two years’ experience (ideally 5+) in a similar role, working on production network and hosting infrastructure in a service provider (or similar) environment, with significant scale and challenges. Proven design, architectural and troubleshooting experience in a range of technologies, likely including many of BGP, OSPF, Firewalling, IPSec, NAT, Policy Based Routing, Microsoft SQL/Server, Linux, Docker, Kubernetes, HAProxy, Colocation, Virtualisation. Operating as part of a 24/7/365 on-call team for service escalations out of business hours. Desirable – Any familiarisation or experience within MVNx/MNO, Roaming, IoT and Telecommunications services and environments would be greatly beneficial, but a track record of tackling new challenges and learning new technologies is equally important Education The candidate may hold or has made significant process towards industry qualifications within their area of expertise or associated areas such as Cisco CCDP/CCNP, Azure, MS-SQL – However candidates proven experience in these areas is key.
