Position Summary Reporting to the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Aide is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing therapeutic recreation programs that enhance the social, emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive well-being of residents. Responsibilities Plan, organize, and facilitate engaging recreational and leisure programs. Encourage resident participation while promoting independence, dignity, and choice. Adapt activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of residents. Complete program documentation and evaluations accurately and on time. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support resident care plans. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for residents and visitors. Assist with special events, outings, seasonal celebrations, and community programs. Qualifications Required: Diploma or Certificate in Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Health Care, Social Sciences, or a related field. Experience working with seniors, preferably in a long-term care or retirement setting. Experience supporting individuals living with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or other cognitive impairments. Current First Aid & CPR Certification. Current Food Handler Certificate. Experience planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation programs. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexibility to work weekends and evenings. Assets: Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) Certification. Montessori Dementia Care training. Experience with electronic documentation systems. Schedule Permanent Part-Time 30 hours biweekly Weekend and evening availability required Shift rotation in accordance with the collective agreement Job Type: Permanent Part-Time (30 hours biweekly) Salary: $24.04–$25.85 per hour Unionized Position: SEIU Local 1 Vacancy: 1
