Maxim Construction Inc. – Dartmouth, NS Employment type: Full-time, permanent The Opportunity We're hiring a Commercial Construction Estimator to work out of our Dartmouth Offices— and we're looking for someone with an eye on where they want to go, not just the job in front of them. This role is built for an estimator ready to grow, with genuine room to take on senior-level responsibility and advance quickly for the right person. You'll take ownership of estimates from early conceptual pricing through to hard-bid and design-build proposals, working closely with project management, operations, and senior leadership. As you grow into the role, you'll have mentorship from our senior team to accelerate a move to our senior/chief estimating position, with room to take on more as you establish yourself. What You'll Do • Prepare accurate, competitive estimates across the full range of ICI projects, from conceptual budgets to detailed hard-bid submissions • Perform quantity takeoffs, review drawings and specifications, and identify scope gaps, risks, and opportunities • Solicit, review, and level subcontractor and supplier pricing • Prepare and coordinate tender and RFP submissions • Manage bid schedules and multiple concurrent tenders to meet deadlines • Collaborate with project teams on constructability, value engineering, and budget planning • Contribute to the handoff from estimate to project execution, and support project teams as required What You Bring • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in commercial construction • A clear ambition to grow into a Senior Estimator role • Experience on ICI and government projects is a strong asset • Solid understanding of construction means and methods, drawings, and specifications • Proficiency with estimating and takeoff software, and strong spreadsheet skills • Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple bids under deadline • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first approach • Post-secondary education in construction, engineering, quantity surveying, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience) What We Offer • A clear runway to advance into a Senior Estimator role • A varied and steady pipeline of ICI and government work across Atlantic Canada • Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package • A collaborative team environment where your work is visible and valued How to Apply Please submit your resume [and cover letter] to [email protected].
