Metro Vancouver Transit Police is the only police service in Canada that is dedicated to policing a transit system while aiding in the provision of justice and enforcement of the laws of British Columbia. Transit Police jurisdiction is the entire transportation service region, including 144 km of rail, 63 stations, over 1,500 buses, 200 bus routes, and one passenger ferry route – an area crossing twenty-one municipalities and one First Nation, served by a combination of seventeen independent police forces and RCMP detachments. At Transit Police, the 183 sworn police officers have the same powers as any other municipal police officer within the province of British Columbia. They take a beat-style and community-focused approach to policing, but have the option to apply for a diverse range of specialized units within the department or to secondment opportunities. At Transit Police, the 76 civilian staff support the important work of our officers. Each employee has expertise in their field and plays a vital role through positions in areas such as our dispatch centre, information management, crime analysis, or more traditional areas such as human resources or finance. Information Management System Specialist

The specialist provides training, comprehensive reviewing, and information management support for various police records systems including PRIME/Versadex, DEMS, and JUSTIN. They also conduct audits of records management practices to ensure compliance with retention requirements and organizational policies.

Designated Constable 1st Class - General Investigation Unit

Conduct complex criminal investigations and develop operational plans to address criminal activity within the transit system. Provide investigative expertise to patrol members and collaborate with joint-force agencies and community stakeholders.
