Marketing Statement Metro Vancouver Transit Police ("Transit Police") is the leader in regional public transit policing, operating across 22 communities. Union Affiliation Transit Police Professional Association Responsibilities This position requires sound judgment, discretion, professionalism, and the ability to effectively engage with a diverse community. Reporting to the General Investigation Unit Sergeant, the successful candidate will be responsible for conducting complex criminal investigations related to the transit system while supporting the safety and security of the transit network. Key Responsibilities include: Conduct complex criminal investigations on and in relation to the transit system. Develop operational plans and analyze intelligence to identify and address criminal activity within the transit service area. Provide investigative expertise and support to Transit Police patrol members and other jurisdictional police agencies. Participate in joint-force investigations involving transit-related criminal activity, as directed. Build and maintain effective partnerships with police, government, and community stakeholders. Participate in training related to plainclothes enforcement, surveillance, and team operations. Conduct surveillance activities in support of investigative and enforcement objectives. Qualifications Required: Applicants must be experienced police officers in Canada and must have been hired by the Metro Vancouver Transit Police within three years of leaving their previous police agency. The successful applicant will be appointed as a Contract Police Officer for a term of 4 years, with the possibility of extension to other positions in the organization. Details regarding the terms and conditions associated with Contract Police Officer appointments are available upon request. Recent experience in Major Case Management and file coordination. Demonstrated ability to produce quality reports. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment without direct supervision when dealing with both routine and emergency situations. Proven ability to conduct effective investigative interviews. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Preferred (completed courses) General Investigative Skills (GIS) Phased Interviewing Basic Tactical Surveillance Search and Seizure Child Interviewing Other Information Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process.
