Our Station Operations West Office requires the services of Plant Service Persons I & II, to provide basic and specialized janitorial services, maintenance and minor repairs for Metrolinx buildings, grounds and facilities. * Location: Various * Days of Work/ Shift Hours: Various * Off Days: Various What will I be doing? * Inspects facilities for cleanliness and records deficiencies. * Carries out general janitorial services including the replenishment of supplies; garbage and waste removal or separation; surface cleaning; polishing; waxing; vacuuming; dusting; and disinfecting and washing using materials, tools and equipment such as walk-behind equipment (i.e. scrubbers, floor polishers, pressure washers). * Carries out general maintenance required to maintain or enhance the facility such as keeping toilet fixtures clear, tightening loose screws or nuts, lubricating hinges, replacing lamps up to and including 120 volts, applying de-icers and snow removal using tools, equipment and materials. Performs minor repairs, as required. * Keeps records of all work performed and materials used and advises supervisor, as required. * Prepares requisitions and other Procurement documents for the supervisor’s approval for the replenishment of materials, parts and supplies. * Monitors on-site facility and equipment and reports any unusual items to the supervisor and takes corrective action as appropriately directed. * Performs other related duties as may be assigned. What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need? * Minimum of (9) nine months experience in building and janitorial servicing involving the safe handling of cleaning chemicals, tools and equipment including floor polishers, driveable scrubbers and high-pressure washers, or must demonstrate the ability to easily attain an equivalent level of experience in a relatively short period of time with minimal training. * Minimum one year driving experience with a class “G” driver’s licence * Must have knowledge of pertinent Health and Safety regulations. Must be able to deal with the public in a courteous manner. * Level of reading, writing and learning skills normally attained through completion of high school or equivalent. * Must be able to obtain GO Transit Equipment Operator’s permit. * Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid Certification. * Must successfully complete Forklift and Propane Training. * Must successfully complete environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy. Requirements
Candidates must have at least nine months of experience in building and janitorial servicing and hold a valid class G driver's license. Applicants are required to have a high school diploma or equivalent and must be able to obtain necessary certifications including First Aid, Forklift, and Propane training.
