The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Society wishes to recognize the traditional lands of our Mi’kmaw Ancestors. The Mi’kmaw are the traditional custodians of the land where the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Resides. The Society would like to pay our respects to the elders both past and present of the Mi’kmaq Nation. The Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Society is a non-profit, board governed organization that currently operates nine core programs. It is one of one hundred and twenty-six Friendship Centres across Canada, and opened its doors on September 17th,1973. The society was incorporated on June 2nd, 1975. The mission of the Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre is to provide structured, social-based programming for Urban Indigenous People while serving as a focal point for the urban Indigenous community to gather for a variety of community functions and events.

The coordinator will develop and implement an Active Living Strategy to promote healthy lifestyles and social inclusion within the Urban Indigenous Community. This includes organizing group activities, building partnerships with other agencies, and managing program funding proposals.

Provide overnight administrative and wrap-around support to urban Indigenous clients to ensure their healing and housing stability needs are met. Manage reception duties, maintain client records, and coordinate referrals between interdepartmental programs.

Manage a caseload of 6-10 families and individuals to help them obtain and maintain safe, secure housing using a client-centered approach. Provide daily support, develop individualized case plans, and navigate community resources to ensure housing stability.
