Job summary
Project Manager – Level 1 (12-24 Month Contract) Location: Victoria, BC / Hybrid Staffing Placement Opportunity Deliverables The organization is seeking a Project Manager – Level 1 to support the delivery of various IT and technology projects, including Operational Technology initiatives, business systems enhancements, and technology modernization projects. The successful candidate will oversee projects such as infrastructure upgrades, operational systems improvements, field technology expansions, collaboration and meeting room technology enhancements, and technology-enabled operational improvements. The Project Manager will work collaboratively with multiple business units, IT teams, operational departments, vendors, and internal and external stakeholders to coordinate project delivery, adoption, and successful implementation of technology solutions. The engagement is expected to run approximately 12 to 24 months based on a 35-hour work week, with potential extensions depending on future project requirements and approvals. The selected candidate may be required to support multiple concurrent projects and provide similar project management services across various technology initiatives. Requirements Candidates should meet the minimum education, experience, and skill requirements outlined below. Education Two-year certificate or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Project Management certification or designation (e.g., CAPM, PgMP, PMP) is considered an asset. Experience More than five (5) years of experience working on IT projects. More than two (2) years of experience in a dedicated Project Manager role. Candidate Requirements Experience developing project charters, project plans, risk assessments, and risk management strategies. Experience coordinating technical teams, business resources, vendors, and stakeholders to achieve project objectives. Ability to effectively manage project scope, timelines, budgets, quality, and communications throughout the project lifecycle. Experience managing change requests and change control processes while ensuring stakeholder alignment. Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools, including Microsoft Project, Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, and related technologies. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and manage competing priorities. Experience preparing and presenting project governance materials, including status reports, dashboards, issue logs, and risk registers. Experience supporting change management activities, implementation planning, and operational transition activities. Experience supporting stakeholder engagement, communications planning, training activities, and user adoption initiatives. Experience managing projects of varying sizes and complexity, including projects valued over $1M and/or projects lasting longer than one year. Experience providing project updates and reporting to leadership teams. Knowledge of IT security, privacy, and records management practices, with the ability to ensure compliance with organizational standards. Preferred Experience Preference will be given to candidates with experience in one or more of the following technology areas: Microsoft 365 technologies (OneDrive, Outlook Cloud, SharePoint, Power BI, Visio, Teams) Asset management systems and solutions SCADA and Operational Technology (OT) systems Cloud technologies and distributed cloud initiatives, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions Availability The successful candidate should be available on a full-time basis and remain assigned to the projects for the duration of the engagement unless otherwise approved.
