Job summary
Manufacturing Engineer Location: Scarborough, Ontario Salary: $80,000–$90,000 per year Modern Technical Staffing is recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer on behalf of a growing manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and improving manufacturing processes, procedures, and equipment used in the production of exhaust systems. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to support new product development, improve production efficiency, and ensure smooth transitions from engineering into production. Key Responsibilities • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes and procedures to support a smooth transition into production. • Provide engineering support to production teams in areas such as packaging, metal cutting, tube bending, MIG welding, resistance welding, and rolling. • Identify and develop process and equipment improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs. • Work directly with cross-functional teams to understand customer requirements and develop practical solutions to production or design challenges. • Lead continuous improvement, 5S, and Lean manufacturing initiatives. • Support the development of cost estimates for quoting purposes. • Lead cross-functional continuous improvement activities for both new and existing products. • Provide engineering support during the commissioning and validation of new equipment. • Review product designs to ensure compliance with internal DFM/A requirements. • Collaborate with product design teams to develop and refine DFM/A design rules. • Participate in strategic discussions related to product roadmaps and new process development. • Participate in design reviews, feasibility analysis, and cross-functional project discussions. Education • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline. Qualifications and Experience • Approximately 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience. • Experience with metal stamping, arc welding, resistance welding, tube forming, and related manufacturing processes. • Strong understanding of welding, metal forming, packaging, and production support requirements. • Experience with process optimization, cost reduction, and continuous improvement methodologies. • Working knowledge of MRP systems is preferred.
