Position Description The Occupational Health Nurse provides on-site emergency medical care, occupational health management, and proactive wellness support in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for administering acute clinical treatment, managing injury and illness cases from onset through return-to-work, and ensuring full compliance with Alberta Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards. The ideal candidate combines Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) clinical expertise with strong interpersonal skills to deliver patient-centered care and foster a psychologically safe, hazard-aware workplace across a diverse workforce. Key Responsibilities Deliver immediate clinical assessment, first aid, CPR, wound care, and stabilization for workplace injuries and illnesses, coordinating emergency transport when required. Manage occupational injury and illness cases, overseeing return-to-work coordination, detailed documentation, and liaison with the Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) and external medical clinics. Conduct health assessments, fitness-for-work evaluations, and workplace ergonomic reviews to prevent injuries. Provide psychological first aid, support employee mental health initiatives, and manage referrals to the Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Maintain, inspect, and restock first aid room inventory, diagnostic tools, and emergency response equipment. Partner with EHS and HR teams to drive plant-wide wellness campaigns, conduct risk and hazard analyses, and actively participate on the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Prepare health and safety incident reports and trend metrics while maintaining strict medical record confidentiality under Alberta OHS Code and legislative standards. Required Education & Qualifications Registered and in good standing with ACoP as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP). Practical experience in industrial, manufacturing, or remote site emergency medical response. Strong interpersonal abilities with proven experience communicating effectively with diverse demographic groups and new-to-English speakers in medical settings. Advanced clinical triage, emergency response capabilities, and the ability to maintain composure under high pressure. Working knowledge of the Alberta OHS Code, WCB case management workflows, and hazard mitigation protocols. Uncompromising commitment to patient confidentiality, data privacy, and medical ethics.
