Senior Accounting Systems Specialist Full-Time | Permanent Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid) A leading global financial services organization is seeking an experienced accounting professional who is interested in taking the next step in their career and moving into the technology and systems side of the business. Rather than continuing along a traditional accounting path focused primarily on month-end close, reporting, and reconciliations, this role allows you to leverage your accounting expertise in a more technology-focused and strategic capacity. You will work closely with Accounting, Operations, Technology, and Product teams to troubleshoot systems, improve processes, test enhancements, support implementations, and help accounting teams get the most out of their technology. You do not need to come from an IT background. This opportunity is particularly well suited to an accountant who has developed an interest in systems, enjoys problem-solving, or has experience working with accounting software and system-related initiatives. Why Join Make the move from Accounting into Technology while leveraging the experience you have already built Transition into a more strategic, systems-focused career without starting your career over Work at the intersection of Accounting, Operations, Technology, and Product Gain exposure to financial systems, system enhancements, testing, implementations, and process improvement Work with a global financial services organization Receive extensive training and professional development Strong opportunities for long-term career progression Hybrid work environment in downtown Toronto Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits Key Responsibilities Accounting Systems & Application Support Become a key resource for accounting and operations teams on system functionality and usage Troubleshoot system issues and help users identify practical solutions Investigate application and reporting issues and coordinate resolutions with Technology teams and external vendors Support users with system functionality, configurations, reporting, and process-related questions Identify opportunities to improve how accounting teams use their systems Accounting & Business Operations Apply your accounting knowledge to understand how financial systems support business processes Work closely with accounting teams to understand their needs and identify opportunities for improvement Help translate accounting and operational requirements into practical system solutions Support standardized processes and operating procedures Assist with reporting and system-related requirements for the business Technology & Systems Projects Participate in system enhancements, integrations, upgrades, and new functionality Assist with testing system changes and ensuring new functionality works effectively for end users Work with Technology, Product, Operations, and external vendors on system-related initiatives Evaluate how system changes may impact accounting processes Support implementations and onboarding activities as required Stay current with system functionality and identify opportunities to improve efficiency Training & Process Improvement Provide guidance and training to accounting and operations users Help develop and update training materials and procedures Communicate system changes clearly to end users Support the adoption of new technology and functionality Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve system utilization Gather feedback from users and work with relevant teams to implement improvements Cross-Functional Collaboration Act as a bridge between Accounting, Operations, Technology, and Product teams Work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand problems and develop solutions Communicate system and process information clearly to users at different levels Collaborate with global teams across different locations and time zones What You Bring 5+ years of experience in Accounting, Finance, Fund Accounting, or a related field Strong understanding of accounting and financial processes Genuine interest in technology, systems, and process improvement Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to understand business processes and identify opportunities to improve them Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Comfortable learning new technology and systems Self-motivated, curious, and proactive Technical Skills Yardi experience is highly preferred Experience with another accounting, ERP, fund accounting, or financial technology platform is also valuable Experience supporting, testing, implementing, or improving accounting systems is an asset Exposure to system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, or implementations is beneficial SQL experience is an asset but not essential for candidates with strong accounting and systems aptitude Career Opportunity This position is well suited to an accounting professional who is looking to expand their career into technology, systems, and product-focused work while continuing to leverage their accounting expertise.
