Job summary

Working together to provide outstanding integrated health care to our communities delivering the best patient outcomes with exemplary standards and compassion, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) is a multi-site organization that includes Huntsville District Memorial Hospital Site and South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site. ROLE Performs all tasks related to dispensing for Pharmacists (i.e. prescription order entry, chemotherapy preparation, sterile IV preparation and regular prescription dispensing, including all labelling and record keeping) Performs Independent Double Check (IDC) on all medications including chemotherapeutics and sterile IV preparations prepared by other pharmacy technicians Delivers medications around the hospital to various departments Receives purchase orders - adds appropriate supplies and amount into computer inventory, print, and put away Performs purchasing process for all pharmaceuticals and supplies required Calls in purchase orders Puts labels on patient medication records (labels pre-made by pharmacy staff) Collects doctor’s and nurse’s requisitions from various departments Collects blue and red bins from various departments and deliver back to correct department Ensures adult emergency box has no expired supplies Assists with clerical duties (i.e. filing) as directed All other duties as assigned Required Education & Certification(s) Registered Pharmacy Technician designation from the Ontario College of Pharmacists DESIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S) Graduate of a recognized Pharmacy Technician’s Course, Community College level Certification in Sterile IV Chemotherapy & IV Admixture Preparation Required Skills & Experience(s) Recent Hospital Pharmacy (within the previous 2 years) experience, including drug distribution, chemotherapy and IV admixture OR willingness to train Studentship practicum experience will be considered Additional Perks At Mahc Staff referral program $1000 (for each successful permanent part-time and permanent full-time new hire you refer to MAHC) Extended health benefits (permanent full-time) Enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) Additional Information Location: Multi-Site, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis Hours of Work: Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement. Requirements

Candidates must be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. Recent hospital pharmacy experience in drug distribution and IV admixture is required or a willingness to train.
