The role involves heavy equipment, heavy-haul trucks and trailers. To be able to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues, in both shop and field settings, to minimize downtime and support operations. Qualifications Journeyman Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (Off-Road) Certification Minimum 3-5 years of experience working on heavy off-road industrial equipment and haul trucks Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical and powertrain systems Proven ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures independently Effective communication, teamwork, and documentation skills Valid Class 5 license with a 3- year clean driving record Safety ticket: H2S, First Aid, CSO As a JM, you will be required to have your own tools Preference given to the following accomplishments Dual ticketed with On-Road or truck and transport mechanic certificate Class 1 driver's licence or Class 3 driver's licence Key Responsibilities Check dozers, excavators and other heavy construction equipment and haul trucks for proper performance of all major brands (CAT, John Deere, Hitachi, Peterbilt, Kenworth, International) Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on heavy-duty equipment and heavy hauling trucks Perform routine maintenance (oil changes, lubrication, inspections) to ensure heavy equipment and haul truck reliability and prevent breakdowns Repair or replace defective components including engines, transmissions, brakes, and hydraulic systems on both equipment and haul trucks Conduct detailed equipment inspections and testing to verify repairs meet safety and manufacturer specifications Operate diagnostic tools and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and test results to guide repairs Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and maintenance logs Order parts and manage inventory to support maintenance and repair activities Ensure all work complies with safety standards, regulations, and company procedures Perform field service work and emergency repairs as required to minimize heavy equipment and haul truck downtime Travel to remote locations and effectively navigate using various mapping tools and systems Working Conditions Outdoor work in varying weather conditions Shop and field work Exposure to heavy machinery, noise, and industrial hazards Crouching, standing, walking, kneeling, lying, climbing, working from heights Lifting heavy objects and being in awkward positions Job Type: Full-time Salary: Employee or Contractors will be considered Benefits: Medical, Dental and life insurance benefits after 3 months Supplemental pay types: LOA if applicable Location: Newforce Shop in Kuusamo Industrial Park.
