Job summary

PURPOSE: Develop and improve manufacturing processes as they apply to the production of wire and cable products to ensure quality product at competitive cost Accomplish Engineering tasks that require technical data gathering and analysis, problem identification and resolutions, and process evaluation AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: Work with Production to create procedures and Standardized Work Instructions. Assist in development, and deployment, of training plans and documentation Analyze manufacturing process capabilities to identify potential production issues Investigate manufacturing engineering problems to determine root cause of manufacturing defects or failures and make recommendations to correct by suggesting design changes, process or equipment changes, and tooling modifications Measure and document all improvements Identify and develop concepts for cost reduction through continuous improvement process Work with QA Department to ensure products meet, or exceed, applicable standards Develop and maintain a machine standards database Maintain machine tooling drawings Support for Nexans Excellence Way daily management Ensure all health and safety regulations are enforced and complied with and that precautions are taken to prevent potential hazards. Keep abreast of technological developments that would improve products, processes and/or procedures. Support and seek opportunities to reduce environmental impacts through waste reductions, recycling and reduction of pollution of air, water, soil and resources. EXPECTED RESULTS: Improvements to operational efficiency with focus on quality, availability, and performance by following Nexans industrial standards Daily support for Nexans Excellence Way to resolve daily process problems Continuous improvement using project planning systems and team collaboration Long term problem solving support supplementing training, documentation, and process improvements Production, QA and Maintenance support as needed REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills are a must Excellent verbal and written communication skills PLC programming and HMI programming is an asset Good information systems and database skills Ability to learn equipment, processes, products and standards Needs to be hands-on Good problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize and effectively handle several projects simultaneously Wire Drawing, Plastic Extrusion, Aluminum forming, PVC compounding experience would be beneficial University degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering Knowledge of Solid Works/Auto CAD Occasional after hours work and calls
