Each community Consultant provides medical leadership, advice and supervision to one of 3 well-established Community Mental Health Teams for Older People. Working within a multidisciplinary, integrated older adult mental health team, the successful candidate will deliver comprehensive outpatient psychiatric care, focusing on assessment, diagnosis, and management of dementia and moderate to severe mental illness. Participation in regular CPD, teaching of medical students, and quality improvement are expected as part of this post. You will take a professional role in MDTs as well as operational and governance meetings. Consultant applicants must hold full GMC registration, a license to practice, and be eligible for the Specialist Register (CCT or CESR). Experience or eligibility to act as RMO and AMP under the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003 is required. The post is offered on a 7 PA basis (6 DCC, 1 SPA), Specialty Doctor applicants must possess full GMC registration and a licence to practice. They must also have at least 4 Years full time Post Graduate Training, two of which must have been in relevant specialties (Psychiatry) or they will demonstrate and evidence equivalent experience and competencies. Previous experience in older adult psychiatry community teams is highly desirable for this post. For Speciality doctor posts, there is also an expectation that candidates have completed Day 1 and Day 2 of Section 22 Training prior to taking up the post. The post is offered on an 8PA basis (7DCC and 1SPA) and will be supervised by a Consultant Old Age Psychistrist. Applicants must be able to travel independently between sites. Join our dedicated team and make a difference to older adults’ mental health.
