If there are no Advanced Care Paramedic applicants, we will consider applications from Primary Care Paramedics (PCP). We prioritize candidates based on their qualifications in the following order: Advanced Care Paramedic, Primary Care Paramedic.If the competition is awarded to a PCP as the next highest classification, they will be awarded as temporary full time (TFT) and recruitment will continue for the higher classification.Job Summary:The Advanced Care Paramedic (or Primary Care Paramedic), works as an integral part of the paramedicine program. The successful candidate will work within their scope of practice, including responding to emergency and routine calls, providing skilled basic and advanced emergency care or assistance to people suffering from a variety of injuries or illnesses. The successful applicant is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards of practice.The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centered care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.The successful applicant will report directly to the Manager of District Operations of Paramedicine. Duties/Job Demands:The Advanced Care Paramedic performs independent advanced medical care and intervention to patients at pre-hospital scene settings. This includes operating ambulances in responding to emergencies and routine calls; conducting physical examinations; performing comprehensive assessments and tests; interpreting a variety of tests and procedures; initiating a variety of advanced interventions; and performing other related duties as required. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through observation, examination of records and reports, and the presence or absence of valid complaints. The ACP functions as a leader and mentor within the paramedicine program.The Primary Care Paramedic works as an active member of the health care team providing pre-hospital assessment and medical care to people with acute illnesses or injuries while maintaining a high standard of care to the patients. Work is performed with considerable independence and is reviewed through observation, examination of records and reports, and the presence or absence of valid complaints.
