Position Summary Under the supervision of the Foreperson, the Equipment Operator (Telehandler/Skid Steer) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of telehandlers, skid steers, and other light equipment to support construction activities. Responsibilities include loading, unloading, transporting, and placing materials and equipment, as well as assisting with site preparation, maintenance, dewatering, and general site clean-up. This position requires strong operating skills, good hand-eye coordination, attention to safety, and the ability to work in varying weather and site conditions. The Equipment Operator must communicate effectively and follow direction from the Site Superintendent, Foreperson, and Management team while ensuring all work is performed in accordance with company policies, project requirements, and applicable health and safety regulations. Advanced equipment operating skills and experience in heavy civil construction are preferred. \n Job Description Safely operate telehandlers, skid steers, and other authorized light equipment in support of construction activities. Load, unload, transport, and place materials, tools, and equipment as directed. Perform daily equipment inspections and complete required maintenance and monthly equipment inspection documentation. Assist with site preparation, dewatering, material handling, general site clean-up, and maintenance activities. Operate hand tools, power tools, and other equipment as required. Perform manual labour and construction support duties as required. Transport and deliver materials, tools, and equipment as assigned to support project operations. Follow direction from the Foreperson, Superintendent, and Management team. Comply with all company, provincial, and federal health and safety requirements, including the proper use of PPE. Identify and report site hazards, unsafe conditions, and equipment deficiencies. Manage time effectively, work collaboratively with crew members, and support overall project objectives. Perform other related duties as assigned within the scope of the position. Requirements Minimum 3 years of experience operating equipment in a heavy civil or construction environment. Valid Telehandler (Zoom Boom) Operator certification/ticket. Experience operating skid steers and other light construction equipment. Knowledge of safe equipment operation, maintenance, and inspection procedures. Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently in varying site and weather conditions. Understanding of construction site safety practices, hazard awareness, and safe material handling procedures. Ability to perform manual labour and construction support duties as required. Strong communication, teamwork, and coordination skills. Valid WHMIS certification. Valid Health and Safety Awareness Training for Workers certification. Valid Working at Heights certification. Elevated Work Platform (EWP)/Aerial Work Platform certification considered an asset.
