Job Summary The Assistant Manager, Inventory Control is responsible for the administration and control of purchasing and receiving processes, inventory management, and vendor coordination across Grouse Mountain's retail operations. This role plays a critical part in maintaining accurate inventory records, ensuring timely replenishment of stock, processing supplier invoices, and supporting operational efficiency through strong inventory controls and analytical reporting. The ideal candidate possesses exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to identify and resolve inventory discrepancies through thorough investigation and reconciliation. While the primary focus of this position is inventory and purchasing administration, the successful candidate will also support day-to-day retail operations, deliver exceptional service to guests, and foster positive working relationships with team members, vendors, and internal departments. Essential Job Functions Manage purchasing and receiving processes, including the creation and tracking of purchase orders to ensure timely replenishment of inventory. Coordinate with vendors regarding orders, pricing, product availability, invoices, and delivery issues. Maintain accurate product costing, pricing, and inventory records across all retail locations and storage areas. Monitor inventory levels and stock movement to support operational needs and seasonal demand. Investigate inventory variances and reconcile discrepancies through regular analysis and collaboration with Accounting. Coordinate and execute cycle counts, inventory audits, and annual stocktakes to ensure inventory accuracy. Oversee receiving processes to ensure products are accurately received, counted, and entered into inventory systems. Review and process supplier invoices, matching purchase orders and receiving documentation for accuracy. Analyze inventory, purchasing, and shrinkage data, and prepare reports to support operational decision-making. Identify opportunities to improve inventory controls, purchasing processes, and operational efficiencies. Support retail operations by ensuring product availability and maintaining strong working relationships with guests, team members, and internal stakeholders. Assist with training and supporting team members on inventory, receiving, and stock control procedures. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ABILITIES 2-3 years of experience in purchasing, inventory control, supply chain, accounting support, or retail administration. Experience processing invoices, purchase orders, receiving documentation, and inventory transactions. Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills. Advanced attention to detail with a high level of accuracy. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. Experience working with inventory management, POS, or purchasing systems. Demonstrated ability to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills when working with vendors and internal stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to build positive relationships with guests and team members. Experience conducting inventory counts, cycle counts, and stock reconciliation is considered an asset. Experience in retail, hospitality, tourism, or food & beverage environments is considered an asset. Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and participate in physical inventory activities. Ability to work flexible hours, including opening, closing, weekends and holidays. Supervisory Responsibility Direct supervision of Retail Supervisors, Key Holders, and Retail Associates. WORKING CONDITIONS Hours of Operation are weather dependant. Due to the nature of the business, this position requires flexibility in terms of your work schedule. A variety of work schedules may include a variety of start times, including shifts on weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts require standing for long periods of time, lifting, twisting, and other forms of manual tasks. Majority of the work is indoor work with the occasional need to be outside in the elements.
