The role requires extensive experience in interior design for hotels and restaurants, combined with strong project leadership and mentoring abilities. Working closely with our owners and leadership group, our Senior Interior Designer will: Mentor and guide design team members Lead design development for active ‘new build’ and ‘renovation’ projects Monitor design projects for alignment to local, national, and international codes, and to Northland Properties standards. Lead and guide development of design concepts and schematics, including: Interior space visualization, concept development, and rendering Space and furniture plan programming FF&E selection, specification, and documentation Supplier resourcing Visual presentation development Owner and Executive Management presentations Lead and support the development of comprehensive Interior Design Plan Sets Collaborate with internal project teams on progressive development of architectural design, interior design, construction drawings, specifications, schedules, cost estimates, and project reports. Coordinate integration of interior design deliverables across all in-house disciplines, including Architecture, Procurement, Construction, and Operations. Manage project administration, coordinate project meetings, and facilitate communication. Lead department initiatives in support of the growth and development of our culture Additional responsibilities, aligned to typical interior design development at a senior level for new build and renovation projects in hotels, restaurants, resorts, and other residential/commercial property types QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, or a related discipline 7-10 years of progressive professional experience in interior design, with a focus on hospitality design for hotels and restaurants Knowledge of Canadian and US Building Codes, Fire and Safety Codes, the Accessible Canada Act (ACA), and the American Disabilities Act (ADA), as related to hospitality interior design Proven experience developing detailed interior design and construction drawing packages, with a strong technical background Experience leading and/or managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong ability to meet deadlines Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in designing large-scale hospitality projects Proficiency in interior design software, including AutoCAD and Revit General software proficiency in the Microsoft 365 platform, including Planner / Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Northlands compensation offerings are grounded in a philosophy that recognizes exceptional individual and team performance. Our typical hiring range for this position is from $75,000 - $95,000 annually, and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity.
