This involves assisting with day-to-day operations of a project to meet the research objectives and commitments with collaborating partners and funding agencies. Run analytical lab equipment and support a tissue culture research project. This position may also conduct fieldwork in support of data acquisition missions which may require both indoor and outdoor working environments. Assist the Research Scientist with student supervision while conducting work in the lab. What you'll need Qualifications Qualifications and Occupational Experience: The minimum education requirement is a diploma, advanced diploma, or degree in a related field or discipline specific to the specific to the nature of research such as chemistry, biotechnology, natural resources, environmental science, biology, horticulture, or agriculture. You have a minimum of two years (full-time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience in a research environment which includes fieldwork. Experience with embryo maturation, germination, and plantlet conversion stages. Experience with cryopreservation or long-term culture maintenance. Experience working with industry partners to complete a project on time and on budget. One (1) year of experience conducting tissue culture techniques, specifically somatic embryogenesis would be considered an asset. One (1) year of occupational experience working in a laboratory environment running analytical equipment would be considered an asset. You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail. You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work. Experience supporting/providing service to students and prospective students would be considered an asset.
