Java Spark developer

We are seeking a skilled Java Spark Developer to join our team in Montreal. This role is ideal for a hands-on engineer with strong experience in distributed computing and high-volume data processing, who is comfortable working across the full data pipeline — from ingestion and transformation to analysis and optimization. The successful candidate will work onsite three days per week from day one. Please note: Visa Sponsorship: Not available — candidates must already be authorized to work in Canada Key Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain applications using Core Java and Apache Spark Develop and optimize solutions for high-volume data processing and distributed computing environments Write, tune, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries against large datasets Perform data analysis to support business and technical decision-making Support applications involving prompt design, data context management, and foundational model testing Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and performant data solutions Required Skills & Qualifications Core Java (required) Apache Spark — hands-on, production experience (required) SQL — strong experience with querying, optimization, and large datasets (required) Experience with high-volume data processing and distributed computing systems Strong data analysis skills Foundational understanding of prompt engineering, data context management, and model testing concepts Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field 5–7 years of relevant professional experience Work Arrangement Onsite in Montreal, QC — 3 days per week, starting from day one No travel required Compensation & Benefits Base Salary: USD $70,676 – $77,744 Full benefits package Bonus: Not eligible Overtime: Not eligible Commission: Not applicable Interview travel: Not reimbursed Ideal Candidate Profile We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate relevant, hands-on project experience combining Java, Spark, and SQL in analytics-focused use cases.
